Dear ITU Students and Community,
We wanted to reach out to you and check-in during the COVID-19 crisis, and also in response to media reports on local and global unrest, the response to racism, and the recent tragic news stories.
Effects of Quarantine
First of all, the unusual and unforeseen lifestyle changes that came about as a response to the COVID-19 crisis have been stressful and isolating. Even though it’s been important to adhere to safety practices dictated by Santa Clara County, we also know that a daily routine of working or going to school virtually can make one feel very cut-off.
In spite of things opening up if you are feeling isolated or in need of any support during this time, especially because you are away from colleagues or from family, please don’t suffer alone. You can find support through the links below and specific links for Santa Clara County.
Here are some Youtube videos that offer information and recommendations from the Anxiety and Depression Association of America.

You can find other resources for support here from the Santa Clara County National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Finally, ITU is evaluating the virtual delivery of classes during the fall 2020 trimester. The Department of Education has given schools the leeway to choose in-person or virtual classes through the end of the 2020 year. However, ITU is bound by the directives the Student Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) gives us regarding teaching F-1 Students. If SEVP allows, ITU will most likely continue with the virtual format in the fall, but we will communicate it explicitly as we move closer to the beginning of the fall term.
Be well and please stay safe.
Sincerely – ITU Leadership
