This course offers students an engaging introduction and hands-on practice in the fundamental areas of human-centered user experience (UX) design and demonstrates their creative problem-solving skills by building a design portfolio across a range of UX / UI projects throughout the course.

Curriculum
Total Required: 3 Courses.
You are required to complete both the DGA 518 UI/UX: User Interface and User Experience and DGA 528 Dynamic UX and one (1) of the electives courses: Design Fundamentals, Web Graphic Design, Basic Image Manipulation, Motion Graphics, Storyboard Design.
Duration: A full-time student can complete the certificate in 4-12 months.

Step 1: Take Courses
UI/UX Certificate Program is a series of courses that helps you master a skill. To begin, enroll in the UI/UX Certificate Program. You may choose to start with one course or take all three courses to finish the certificate program.
Step 2: Hands-on Project
Every course includes a hands-on project. You’ll need to successfully finish the project(s) to complete the course and earn your certificate.
Step 3: Earn a UI/UX Certificate
When you finish every course and complete the hands-on project, you’ll earn a Certificate that you can share with prospective employers and your professional network.

Yau Gene Chan
Yau earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in sociology at the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in fine arts (acting) at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned the Jack Nicholson Prize and an Edna Yu Han fellowship.
Yau brings diverse talents to ITU, including the recruitment of exceptional talent to ITU, successful operations, growth management, technology innovation, business development, and the formation of strategic international partnerships. He has worked at ITU – the university his father founded in 1994 — since 2000, first as an instructor of business communications and digital arts (utilizing his skills as an actor and an early innovator in digital media), later as executive vice president and currently as president and CEO. Yau has devoted his life to building structures that help people improve their quality of life, achieve their highest potential, and create futuristic wonders.

ITU DA students stories
Most of the ITU DA students worked in the UI/UX and/or Digital Marketing space. In the Silicon Valley area, according to Glassdoor, the average salary for this type of job is $107,000 but just $80,000 in the US. That means the DGA students are getting the same salaries as established UI/UX designers in the country and are competitive in the Silicon Valley. For Digital Marketing, they are doing even better, considering that the average US salary for this space is just $57,000 per year.
