Student ID Card

All students are required to have an ITU Student Identification Card (Student ID). Student ID cards provide personal identification on campus; access to facilities, equipment rentals, library books; admittance to student sponsored evetns; records for attendance; and used for document pick-up and in conjuction with VTA Smartpass.

Students should always carry their ID card when on campus, as the ID card is required for class attendance and demonstrate authorization to be on campus. Students may be requested to identify themselves to a university faculty member, staff member, authorities through their ID card.

The student ID card remains the property of ITU. Services rendered by the card are non-transferable to other individuals; only the name cardholder can access student privileges at the university. An authorized use or altering of the card in any way, including using another student’s card or allowing someone else to use one’s card, may resultin disciplinary action. ITU reserves the right to confiscate student ID cards when use is deemed inappropriate.

The card is required for class attendance (check-in and check-out), and used in conjunction with your VTA Smartpass card to board the bus and light rail.

Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary measures in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, Article IV. Students who lend their card to another for the sole purpose of accessing university facilities and/or falsifying the attendance system will be recommended for disciplinary sanctions.

How To Get Your Student ID Card

New students will receive their first student ID card at no charge. It is highly recommended that new students obtain their Student ID card prior to orientation day, after class registration and payment of the balance due.

In order to receive an ID card, students must bring:

  • A government-issued photo identification (state driver’s license or passport)
  • Student ID number
  • Proof of tuition payment

Beginning the first day of registration, students are welcome to visit the Information Center desk to take their ID picture to receive their Student ID card “on the spot”.

Students waiting until orientation day, may not receive their student ID card until several days later.

Lost or Stolen Student Identification Card

Immediately report a lost, damaged or stolen card and request a replacement by completing the Lost/Stolen and Replacement Request form and submitting a support ticket to ITU Support, Student ID & VTA Card. Replacement fees are tiered beginning at a $25.00 fee for first time, $50.00 for second and $100.00 for third report. All fees are paid to the Department of Accounting Services prior to replacement, and student must be enrolled at the university.

There is no fee for worn and/or malfunctioning ID cards. Damaged or malfunctioning cards must be returned to the Information Desk to obtain replacement.

Misuse of Student ID Cards
