Basically, if you want to stay updated with everything ITU, and more importantly look cool doing it, download the app.  No more having to log into your computer or get on the mobile web and drain your battery.  Simply tap the button for the app, and you are there.

What this app does is let you see schedules and grades, events, watch lectures, even mark class attendance, find teacher’s contact information, and get directions to ITU. I could go on and on, but I won’t.  Because, anything you want to know about ITU, just check your app.

This idea and app was conceived of by Dr. Barbara Hecker, ITU’s Department Chair for Engineering Management.  This Summer of 2012 Dr. Hecker will be teaching classes on Android and iPhone application development, and she’ll be hosting a free iPhone workshop.  Be sure to check that out too.

Look for this app in Google Play or the Android Market under the “Education” category.  It’s called “ITU Mobile”.

For you Android users, enjoy.  iPhoners, well you are just going to have to wait.. For Now.

After the pre-screening was complete, it only took 8 minutes for the process to complete, followed by 15 minutes of sitting, enjoying cookies and ice cream.  Stanford Blood Drive was very efficient during the intake, the process, and the exit.  ITU contributors were taken care of every step of the way.  And one of the nurses, Phillip, was known to make everyone laugh in the truck.  Personality and efficiency were two great values that made the event even more memorable.

Greeting CPT students!

This is a reminder to please remember to submit your CPT reports by May 11, 2012.

You can find instructions, and also submit your CPT report through the EMS.  Please do not forward or email your reports. It is the student responsibility to upload the CPT report in the EMS to receive a “P” grade.  For technical difficulty with the EMS, please contact Doreen dkirai@itu.edu.

Please follow these instructions to ensure your completion of your CPT:

1. You are required to submit a CPT Report and an Employer Evaluation Letter.
2. You must be register for CPT to upload a CPT Report and Employer Evaluation Letter. (Please make sure your signature is on both documents)

Procedure

1. Log into EMS.
2. Go to project by clicking on the “Project” tab on the left-hand side.
3. Select the current semester project.
4. Click the “Submit Project Report” link.
5. Next, update your project status:
   • Finished status – when you select the “finished status”, you will be able to make changes to your report before the due date.
6. Click “Browse”, then choose the files you want to upload.
7. Click “Open” once you’ve selected your file.
8. Click on “Add Attachment” and repeat step 5 and 6.
9. Click Submit Report button.
10. You will receive an email notification saying ‘ Your CPT report as been received.’

There will be no exceptions after the deadline. Please submit your report promptly! If the student fails to submit all required documents by 05/11/2012, the student will receive no credit for CPT, and will also be given a NP for the course.

On Thursday, May 3, 2012, ITU’s Business Administration department will be holding its third Journal Club session, which is open to students, faculty, and staff. The topic that will be presented is “Teaching Methodologies For New Era.” The speakers will be DBA students: Linda Fan, Ahmad Shaar, Patricia Wiggin and Jenny Zhou. The Journal Club topic is supervised by Dr. Frank Aguilera and Dr. Mohammed Nadeem.

ITU has an application available for free download from Google Play. This Android app was developed by Dr. Barbara Hecker, ITU’s Department Chair of Engineering Management. She will be teaching courses in iPhone and Android development this Summer 2012.  In June, Dr. Hecker will be offering a follow up to last month’s free Android App Development workshop with a FREE iPhone App Development workshop.

Here’s the description of the ITU Mobile app from Google Play:

“ITU Mobile is the official Android App for International Technological University (ITU).

This app allows ITU students to connect to the “Education Management System” (EMS) and to view ITU related news, literature, articles, class schedules, events, blogs and more. There are features to create text and audio notes, find directions to the campus, view ITU media sources and keep in touch with what’s happening at ITU. Students may use this app to check grades, view their course materials, slide presentations, assignment submissions, videos, and other resources.

Students can watch recorded lectures and read assignment descriptions in the EMS. This app provides the same level of EMS access as a regular web browser but is optimized to perform and look better on mobile devices.

ITU students also have the ability to mark their class attendance using this app running on their smart phone or tablet device. Students should consult with their instructors for information about how and when to use the attendance tracking feature. The system is currently implemented at the ITU San Jose Campus location.

This is a “must have” app for all ITU students!
