International Student Document Submissions

Before submitting documents to the International Student Office, you must apply to an ITU graduate program. If you have not submitted an application, please click here.

Now that you have applied to ITU, there are certain things that you must do so that you can enter the United States.

Before international students come to the USA, they must obtain an I-20 form from ITU. This is a legal document that will authorize you to apply for a student visa.

Be prepared with all your supporting documentation before you begin the process.

All incoming international students must provide:

  • Copy of passport including the first page, signature page, and any other informational pages

Depending on your current visa status, you may also need to prepare the following documents (within 6 months of your program start date):

  • A copy of your bank statement showing you have a minimum of $37,877 for the first year of study. Please click this link for a list of acceptable financial documents.
  • If you are being sponsored by others, you must provide an Statement of Financial Support or Form I-134 for each sponsor along with a recent bank statement that reflects a balance equal or higher than the amount listed on each statement
  • A copy of your visa or I-797A showing approval for your current status
  • A copy of your most recent I-94
  • A copy of your most recent I-20 or DS-2019
  • OPT EAD Card
  • If you are interested in transferring into ITU from another university within the United States or are currently on an Optional Practical Training/OPT STEM authorization, you will need to transfer your F-1 SEVIS from your old university into ITU. In order to initiate your SEVIS transfer, please:
    • Submit your complete documents through our ISO Document Submission Form (selecting either the Transfer Student or OPT Student Form).
    • After your documents are complete and you have been formally admitted into ITU, you will be sent an F-1 SEVIS Transfer Eligibility Form. You will need to coordinate with your university have this form filled out in order to initiate your SEVIS transfer into ITU.
    • Please note that the SEVIS transfer-in deadline for the Fall term is August 18, 2017. Please do not request to have your SEVIS transferred into ITU until you have first completed the steps above.

In order to register for classes and attend, international students must pay the Orientation fee and successfully fill out the enrollment form. If deadlines are missed, you may have to defer your I-20. Please note, all international students need to submit their immigration documents even if they are not requesting an I-20.

Helpful Tip
Please set your SEVIS date at least two weeks before the start of the trimester. To ensure your immigration documents are processed on time.
