Course Description:
Singing well is one of the most powerful and satisfying accomplishments a person can ever have. It can also be frustrating when you aren’t getting the sound you want.
Vocal Training Class provides the opportunity to students who wish to obtain those benefits and avoid those frustrations.
Class teaches the student from mastering breath techniques all the way to performing live.
Vocal Training Class has over 20 different learning outcomes in 16 classes, and to be finished with a live performance program for the students to demonstrate what they have learned and what their accomplishments are.
Leaning and practicing Vocal Training can help students to improve the quality of voice, save the voice, maintain a strong and healthy voice for long time and widen careers.
Learning Outcomes:
Following are total 20 outcomes that will be achieved in 16/20 weeks. Not necessarily in exactly order or completion of them as listed. After reviewing the students’ overall background, level of singing skills, experience and preference, the chapters can be altered or determined to fit the students’ specific needs.
A three hour’s classes will be generally arranged as: one quarter of it for lecturing new chapter; two quarters for coaching in group and individuals and practicing; one quarter for preparing live performing.
At the end of the term, the students should have learned and mastered most of the basic singing techniques in both theory and practice, and the class will be able to make a 30 – 45 minutes life performing.
- Knowing the most important thing in singing is not WHAT you can sing but HOW you can sing; the value of singing tech and understand your unique voice; singing well adds the pleasure and fun to your life.
- Understand your voice and some basic acoustics and anatomy in related to singing; difference between singing and speaking; postures, alignment and excises.
- Master correct breathing: Proper breathing for singing; inhalation, exhalation and voiced breathing; breathing problems and exercises.
- Phonation: How, vibrato, problems and exercises.
- Resonance: what, Pharynx, larynx and tongue, exercises.
- Register of the voice: What, vocal registers for woman and man, and blending; exercises for blending registers.
- Diction: Vow classification and modification; consonant classification; exercises.
- Voice classification: Basic voice types; find your own voice type and exercises.
- Basic voice training: Warm up exercises; high and low; flexibility and exercises.
- Caring for your voice: Reasonable think; basic health concern; environment hazard, food/drink/drugs, how to protect your voice and restoration exercises.
- Musicianship: Basic; pitch and intonation problems; intervals/rhythm; performing notation.
- Understand Basic music theory and reading music.
- Learn what and how to practice your voice and expression.
