Application Checklist for Doctorate Students

Doctorate Students refers to postgraduate students wishing to earn a doctoral degree. The General Admissions Requirements are mandatory for all applicants, while additional materials are dependent on individual student status. Send all documents to the following address:

Domestic Student Application:

  • ITU Doctorate Student Application Form
  • $80 Application Fee
    One time fee, nonrefundable payable via Personal Check, Money Order, Cashier’s Check, Demand Draft, Traveler’s Check, or Debit or Credit Card. If paying with Credit/Debit card, fillout a Debit/Credit Card Authorization Form. Please make checks payable to ”ITU”.
  • Minimum 3.5 Graduate GPA
  • Official Transcripts of All Prior Work1
    Include any transcripts from previous universities, or relevant education. Transcripts should be translated into English.
  • Submit GRE/GMAT Satisfactory Score
    Send official records of your scores from either test to the Admissions department.GMAT / GRE Index:
    - GMAT Index: 1200 or above out of 1350 (GPA 700 (3.5*200) + GMAT 650)
    - GRE Index: 2500 or above out of 2700 (GPA 1400 (3.5*400) + GRE 550 + 750)
  • Three Letters of Recommendation
  • Statement of Interest
    The maximum length of your Statement of Interest should be 2 pages, and should express in detail your interest of doctoral studies at ITU and in your area of study.
  • Resume/Curriculum Vitae
    If applicable, please include examples of published materials.

International Students Requirements:

In addition to the application requirements listed for Domestic students, International students must also provide the following documents:

  • Submit TOEFL, or IELTS score
    ITU requires applicants to have a minimum score of TOEFL > 550, and a minimum of IELTS > 6.0.
  • Original Bank Statement
    Original copy of bank statement showing a minimum of $17,500. Bank statements must come directly from the bank, and include an official stamp from your banking institution. Bank statements printed from the internet without an official stamp will be rejected.
  • Notarized Letter of Affidavit
    Fill out and submit a Letter of Affidavit if you are being sponsored. If you are student being sponsored by a company (or your spouse) within the US, then your sponsor is responsible for filling out an I-134 Form in addition to a Letter of Affidavit
  • Passport Copy
    Include a copy of the first and last pages of your Passport.
  • Submit Copy of Visa and I-94
    Once you have received your VISA and I-94 you will need to make copies, arrange a meeting with our Admissions Office, and submit a copy of both documents for our records. These documents must be submitted in person.
