Accreditation

What does accreditation mean? Why is accreditation important?

ITU is a very mission-centered institution that is driven towards executing its model of quality industry-linked education. It is a pleasure to see ITU join other WASC accredited institutions bringing quality education to our region and to the world through its outreach efforts.

~ Dr. Richard Winn,
Executive Director of WASC’s Senior Commission

ITU is accredited by the nation’s premier regional accreditation body for higher education, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Through its rigorous review process, WASC confirms that ITU possesses the resources, policies, and practices to achieve its educational goals and shows a dedication to the improvement and accountability of its programs.

WASC recognizes institutions that have met high standards of quality and effectiveness, in accordance with established, research-based WASC criteria. As a WASC-accredited university, ITU joins Santa Clara University, Stanford University, University of California system, California State University system, and other world-class peer institutions accredited by WASC in providing quality higher education.

WASC accreditation also places ITU among the recognized list of institutions on the U.S. Department of Education’s database of recognized institutions of higher learning and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation’s Listing of Accredited and Candidate Institutions (CHEA). ITU is also recognized as an approved institution by California’s Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE).
