Mobile Device Application Development Certificate Program
Offered by the ITU Engineering Management Department
This is an advanced training certificate program for smart phone, tablet and embedded device application enthusiasts and industry professionals seeking opportunities to expand their design, programming and software development skills into the world of mobile application development. The program focuses on innovative application design and development techniques for iPhone, iPad and Android based phones, tablets and other mobile devices.
Students will learn how to develop applications on a variety of different device platforms offering the opportunity for experimentation and advanced application development experience for career growth and opportunities in today’s highly innovative and creative application development industry.
To earn a certificate in “Mobile Device Application Development” students will need to complete 4, 3-unit classes for a total of 12 units:
- SEN 964 – OO Programming with Java
- SEN 970 – OO Programming with Objective-C
- SEN 965 – iPhone Application Development
- SEN 958 – Android Phone Application Development
Note: All classes taken in the certificate program may be applied towards some of the ITU Masters Degree programs. Please check with the master degree program advisors for more information.

FREE – 1 Day Training Workshop
“Getting Started with iPhone/iPad Application Development”
June 16th (10am-4pm)
This full day workshop is a great opportunity to preview and explore the iPhone and iPad application development environment. The workshop is designed to enlighten developers with an overall understanding of the iPhone/iPad platform. Student will learn how to install and configure the development tools as well as build three exciting programs utilizing the iPhone features. Students should bring their MacBook computers. An Apple Mac computer running OSX 10.5 Leopard or above is needed in order to use XCode and the iPhone/iPad API. Snow Leopard 10.6 or above is recommended for the current API releases.
Free WIFI access will be available. Some previous programming experience in C/C++ or Objective-C is preferred but not required. A programming background in any language will be necessary in order to understand some of the source code writing but students without a programming background can still benefit from the workshop.
