Office of Institutional Research

Mission:

The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) serves as the comprehensive information research center for the institution, and provides the ITU management team and academic departments with data supports for program assessment, strategic planning, policy development and decision-making. It also reports facts and statistic data about ITU to the public and external regulation agencies.

Personnel:

The Office of Institutional Research includes the Dean of Faculty, Department Chairs, members of the ITU Educational Management Systems (EMS) team, members of the ITU website development team. Ahmad Shaar is assigned as the Acting Director and the data analyst to oversee the data collection and data analysis, and generate the reports needed to support ITU’s decision-making process and report it to the Executive Vice President and the Academic Quality Control committee.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather information from internal and external sources (e.g., students, faculty, staff, EMS, other institutions, and external agencies) for program assessment and strategic planning.
  • Publish periodical data reports (e.g., enrollment trends, admission number, average class size, student faculty ratio, full time equivalent) through ITU website.
  • Conduct data analysis on the assessment of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs), and make recommendations to academic departments.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations on the possible enhancement of the EMS.
  • Coordinate ITU’s response to reports required by the federal or state government, including the IPEDS report, retention, graduation rate studies, and other similar reports.
  • Issue information reports to certain institutional affiliations such as accreditation agencies and joint research projects/programs in which ITU elects to participate.
  • Respond to internal and external information requests or surveys, provided that those requests or surveys are reasonable and helpful to the institution.
